Christmas will be bleak and without hope for hundreds of thousands of Queenslanders, says CEO of leading charity Vinnies Queensland, Kevin Mercer.

Launching their annual Christmas Appeal, Vinnies is preparing to support the ‘newly vulnerable’ group of people whose wishes this year are as simple as keeping a roof over their heads, and their families fed.

“This isn’t Christmas, it’s breaking point,” said Mr Mercer. “For families facing the worst recession since World War II, and whose budgets are already stretched to the limit, the upcoming Christmas season is another stress they just can’t cope with.

The Vinnies Christmas Appeal aims to raise $500,000 to restore hope for Queenslanders this Christmas.

Laurel, Gary & Mark spoke with the CEO and discovered what we can do as a community.
