After years of shaving our legs, underarms and bikini lines the skin around these areas can be more than a little damaged.

We use moisturiser to combat dry and dehydrated skin and we buy expensive razors to try and avoid the dreaded shaving rash.

However it seems that at times there’s nothing that can be done to avoid the unsightly red dots that develop on the surface of the skin after shaving away unwanted hair in the area.

But there are a few tips and tricks that can help reduce the risk of these bumps, you just have to put in a little extra time and effort!

First of all it’s important to shave WITH the direction of hair growth and not against. This puts less stress on your delicate skin and it greatly reduced friction.

Next it’s vital to use shaving cream. So many of us are guilty of banging on a little bit of conditioner prior to shaving, or even worse, not using anything at all.This is a big no no. Shaving cream is specifically designed to soothe the open pores caused as a result of shaving and it contains ingredients that make the skin feel silky and bump free.

Lastly wash the razor in warm water after you use it and clean it with rubbing alcohol. This will remove bacteria and keep it rust free. Store the razor in a cool, dry place.

It’s recommended you change your razor after every five to seven shaves. It may seem like a lot but it’s a small price to pay for smooth legs and an irritation free bikini line!
