Let’s be honest, we don’t take much convincing when it comes to eating cheese…
But in case you need another reason – we’ve just found it!
According to the latest research, eating cheese could be the key to a longer life – and as far as we’re concerned, it’s also the key to a better life!
Nature Medicine found that the compound spermidine, which is found in aged cheese, helped to increase the average lifespan of mice and rats.
They then decided to test out the theory on 800 Italians.
Those who reported they had a higher consumption of spermidine also had a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases along with a lower blood pressure.
It was also found they had a 40 per cent lower risk of heart failure.
While some haters may point out the high fat levels in cheese and the fact that spermidine is also in peas, corn, soybeans and whole grains, we’re going to blissfully ignore it all.
Because that platter of cheese is calling…
