The Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel in Sydney is one of the impressive and uninterrupted views in Sydney – if not Australia. Scrap that… the world.

Increasingly popular as a wedding venue due to the view, the hotel’s recent facelift has seen it become very, very popular among locals and tourists in the know – as well as budding brides-to-be.

The devastatingly beautiful spot is now fitted out with complete seaside/cabana boy decor, with navy and white giant umbrellas, mint green paint and pineapples-a-plenty.

It’s the kind of place you see on postcards, with the bar-on-beach vibe normally reserved for the coolest parts of Spain or Thailand – even Mexico. It’s just cool. A cool place to catch up with friends, to be seen at, without the snootiness of other beachside establishments or the ‘scene’ of other popular hotspots. All are welcome and all enjoy.

The best part? The already stellar menu has just had an upgrade, making it undoubtedly the best place to catch a late lunch with friends and watch the sun go down.

Now it goes without saying that the fresh seafood is on point. The oysters, the prawns, the succulent lobster; it’s all as fresh and as flavoursome as you could hope for.

The winter menu is simply second-to-none, the banquet menu complete with mouth-watering roast lamb and quinoa salad, and a deconstructed pavlova just begging to be devoured.

I’m also a HUGE fan of the mini lobster rolls and killer soft shell crab sliders, but if you’re after something a little more ‘refined’, I insist you opt for the pork and veal meatballs, the smoked ocean proud salad and the chargrilled moreton bay bugs. Don’t forget to opt for a side of fried brussel sprouts, complete with maple glazed BACON and blue cheese.
