Meet Lola Berry, a Sydney Nutritionist who used to carry around a few extra kilos that she didn’t want.
See, like many of us, Lola used to binge eat when she was sad or stressed and that kind of emotional eating is often the downfall of all of us – even those who know what the affects are on the body!
Lola, who has a Bachelor of Health Science (majoring in Nutritional Medicine) definitely did know better and vowed to make living a healthy life a priority.
She was trying desperately to lose the extra 20 kilos she’d gained over time, but no matter how much she worked out, or how healthily she ate – the weight just would not budge.
Perplexed, Lola sought out answers.
The problem was, Lola didn’t realise what she was doing wrong. She was actually allergic to gluten AND dairy – so it didn’t matter how much she did to improve her health, she was putting things into her body that her body just didn’t like. Of course, this won’t be the case for everyone but what it did teach Lola to do was go for a diet similar to that of a ‘caveman’, eating foods that haven’t been overly processed. It’s commonly known as the ‘paleo’ diet, free of gluten, dairy and refined sugar.
She says, “the weight just started falling off.”
Lola ended up losing a whopping 20 kilos in 20 weeks and took to her blog to share her progress and her paleo-inspired recipes, exercises and more.
After attracting a rather large following, Lola has released a cookbook, called The 20/20 Cookbook, which tells of her weight loss story.
Now, she’s back with another brilliant offering: The Happy Cookbook, which is filled to the brim with paleo-inspired recipes that are also free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar. The difference in her story is not just looking at exercise and diet but also about how you can control your mood and live a happier, healthier life.
