We all need an alcoholic beverage freshen up every now and then, so why not visit (or re-visit) Rosé?

Here are six reasons why you should give it a go…

1. it’s always new

Rosé is the kind of wine that’s best when it’s new, rather than wines that do better as they age.

Expert winemaker Charles Smith of Charles Smith told Cosmopolitan that rosé is like a butterfly.

“That’s the allure of rosé. It’s real and vibrant and it’s alive,” says Smith. “It’s a snapshot of the growing season and of the harvest. It’s really the most naked of all wines. They don’t necessarily go into a barrel. They don’t see any aging. Where making some wines would be going from a caterpillar to a butterfly, rosé is always a butterfly.”

Never get an old rose, vintages from 2014/2015 will be the best of 2016. “It’s all about the first wine of the year,” he says. “It’s about everything being renewed.”

2. it’s cheap.

Rosé sounds super fancy, but it’s really not when it comes to price. Anyone can enjoy a sneaky rosé! With bottles ranging from as little as $8 each, quality is much the same.

“The wine can be $10 or $20, and you can find the same amount of pleasure.”

3. it’s got variety

You can get rose made from all different kinds of grapes, a pinot noir grape, a Sangiovese grape, Merlot grapes… You get the picture? YUM.

4. it’s perfect chilled

Which makes it the perfect wine to have in the sun! If you bought an unchilled bottle of rosé at the store and want to drink it ASAP, stick it in the freezer for 20 minutes. “It will be the perfect temperature every time,” Smith says. “It’s hard to wait but just resist temptation. The 20 minutes will be worth it.”

5. it goes with every meal

Well, almost. It goes amazing with chicken dishes. “A roast chicken and rosé is absolutely fantastic. Chicken is one of those satisfying, not complicated things — shouldn’t that be the most perfect food for wine? It’s something you should just open up your heart and your mouth and enjoy.” Smith said.

6. it’s pink!

I mean, come on?!
