It’s finally here! Batman V Superman has hit Aussie cinemas but despite opening at number one, the film has been receiving bad reviews online.
The DC superhero flick has copped considerable stick from film critics and has been branded “a meatheaded, humourless mess” and “about as diverting as having a porcelain sink broken over your head”.
But Cavill, who plays Superman in the film, says he’s unconcerned by such remarks.
“We get the critics who have their personal opinions, and the thing about personal opinions is that they always come from a place,” he told Yahoo Movies UK.
“What is really going to matter, I believe, is what the audience says, because they’re the ones who are buying tickets.
“The audience’s voice is loudest.”
But it’s Ben Affleck’s reaction when being asked about it in an interview that has us giggling.
Henry Cavil leaps in to answer the reporter’s question, but Ben’s face is a picture that tells a thousand words.
Director Zack Snyder said he was happy with the final cut of the film irrespective of critics’ views.
“I’m a comic book guy and I made the movie based as much as I could on that aesthetic,” Snyder said.
Amy Adams, who plays Superman’s love interest Lois Lane, said no film was made with the sole intent of pleasing critics.
“I know that Zack doesn’t make the movies or none of us are making the movies for the critics,” Adams said.
“You can’t go into it with that perspective.”
The film had a 31 per cent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes on Friday morning (AEDT), but earned a 77 per cent audience approval rating.
