The distinctive voice of Bugs Bunny, Joe Alaskey, has died aged 63.

The looney tunes voice actor also leant his voice to Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat, Pepe Le Pew, Wile E Coyote and Yosemite Sam.

The Emmy award-winning star died from cancer on February 3, after suffering from the disease for nine years.

Born in New York and initially a stand-up comedian, Alaskey’s uncanny ability to mimic voices landed him numerous voice acting gigs.

He also voiced Grandpa Lou Pickles in more recent episodes of the Rugrats, Droopy the Dog in Tom And Jerry and Richard Nixon in Forrest Gump.

He was also called upon numerous times to redub actors’ lines, especially when studios had to recut shows to delete profanity in order to score a more PG rating.

To keep his voice fresh, Alaskey said he would sing every day.
