The Northern Irish singer is to return to his hometown to perform on the tree-lined road on 31 August, the day of his milestone birthday.

The gig, which is part of the city’s EastSide Arts Festival, will be staged for around 1,500 fans and residents of Cyprus Avenue, who will be granted passes.

A statement from organisers reads, “Van Morrison will celebrate his 70th birthday by appearing at this most iconic of venues – a most beautiful location made famous across the world through the song from his ground breaking and widely acclaimed Astral Weeks album, first released in 1968. This will be a unique once in a lifetime experience, not to be missed.”
