Bono performed on Monday in public for the first time since his bicycling accident, when he sang “Ordinary Love” with U2 at the funeral of Irish radio DJ Tony Fenton.

The veteran host at the station Today FM died Wednesday of prostate cancer at age 53. The Dublin church service was attended by a who’s who of Ireland’s music and radio businesses. Today FM jock Mario Rosenstock told mourners that he didn’t think “anybody else in the world would be able to get the biggest band in the world to play at his funeral.”

Bono suffered multiple injuries — including fractures of his left elbow, eye socket and shoulder blade — when he crashed his bike in New York’s Central Park last November.
