Former supermodel Tyra Banks and partner Erik Asla have welcomed a son, York Banks Asla, with the help of a surrogate.

“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here,” Tyra posted on Instagram.

“York Banks Asla, welcome to the world.”

The new mum announced the arrival of her baby boy on Thursday, alongside a photo of a newborn baby’s striped beanie.

“He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin,” she posted on Instagram.

The America’s Next Top Model host has previously opened up about her fertility struggles and IVF treatments. In the end the couple turned to a surrogate to carry their baby.

“As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone.”

The new parents aren’t the only ones gleaming with the news, with fans rushing to congratulate the couple.

“Congratulations @tyrabanks, Welcome to motherhood,” one fan commented.

The comments poured in: “Congrats Tyra! Can’t wait to see that future model baby! You’ll have to teach him how to smize early on.”

“So happy for you! It’s sad that the women who would make the best moms often have trouble conceiving,” another added.

“But God has blessed you tremendously! Prayers for you on this new journey @tyrabanks.”
