According to the Wall Street Journal, Sony Pictures Television is about to sell the re-run rights to all 172 Seinfeld episodes to an online video service and they want more than $112 million.
Netflix, which allegedly paid more than $655,000 per episode for the rights to Friends last year, has dropped out of the running for Seinfeld, leaving Hulu, Amazon and Yahoo to battle it out.
Since the show wrapped up in 1998, Seinfeld has made more than $3.5 billion in syndication revenue.
The majority of the money from the upcoming sale will go to Time Warner Inc.’s Warner Bros., but sitcom creators Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David will get a cut.
Aussie Seinfeld fans can catch frequent episodes on Foxtel’s TV Hits channel.
