This Mother’s Day, Fran Laver received the greatest gift of all – the return of her sight.
After 46 years of blindness, a rare eye surgery procedure at the Sydney Eye Hospital has restored Fran’s vision. As a young mother, Fran contracted Stevens-Johnson syndrome, within two years she was completely blind.
Fran told 9NEWS “The worst thing…is the isolation…you tend to not socialise as much…I want to be able to read to my grandchildren, more than anything”.
The rare and expensive operation has given the grandmother her vision back. For the first time, she has seen the faces of her four grandchildren.
Fran says her first priority is to read books to her grandchildren. Bless!
