If not for the deaths of David Bowie, Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister and Glenn Frey of The Eagles, classic rock would be barely recognized at this week’s Grammy Awards.

There will be tributes to all three artists during the telecast, but awards in categories for which classic rock acts are nominated will be handed out in the pre-telecast.

James Taylor – Before This World


Best American Roots Song

Don Henley – “The Cost of Living”

Best Spoken Word Album

Patti Smith – Blood on Snow

Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package

Rolling Stones – Sticky Fingers (Super Deluxe Edition)

Best Historical Album

Paul McCartney – co-writer of the Kanye West song “All Day”

The Grammy Awards air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday at 8pm ET on CBS. In Australia, thats Tuesday 12.00pm on FOX8.
