Michelle Bridges has released the first photo of her newborn baby, Axel, on the cover of Women’s Weekly.
Bridges, 45, posed with Axel, who was born in December last year, for the latest issue of Women’s Weekly, on sale tomorrow.
She says in the cover story that her child, with fellow fitness guru and trainer on TBL, Steve “The Commando” Willis as “the best thing I’ve ever done”.
The couple spent Christmas together with Willis’ three children from two previous relationships and their newborn son.
Bridges has since faced a lot of criticism of her exercise regime both when she was pregnant and postpartum.
New mothers are advised against high-impact exercise like running in the first three months after birth.
Women In Focus Physiotherapy posted a response to Bridges’ advice, warning new mums to know their limits.
“If an individual decides to jog soon after giving birth, this is their choice,” they wrote on their Facebook page.
“However as a public figure encouraging women who’s [sic] body types, birth and fitness histories are unknown, to start jogging is quite frankly concerning. It could potentially cause a woman more harm than good in these early stages, especially to the pelvic floor and the ligaments that support the bladder, uterus and bowel.”
They have since advised that exercise from 1-2 weeks postpartum, but only if the new mother is mentally and physically ready.
Bridges acknowledged the backlash she receives saying, “a lot of people were freaked out that I was exercising”.
