Stevie Wonder is a father again, as he welcomes child number nine. He and girlfriend Tomeeka Robyn Bracy now share two children together.

Stevie’s rep confirmed today he has a new daughter named Nia. No date has been announced of her birth but Nia’s name means purpose, “one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa”, the spokesperson told Us Weekly. Kwanzaa is a weeklong celebration of African heritage, which begins December 26 and ends January 1 annually.

Tomeeka was expecting when Stevie appeared on US talk show The View last month joking: “I got, how many, 22 kids? It’s not true,” the father-of-nine laughed. “The truth is we’re going to have a wonderful daughter, born in December, [and her] name is going to be Nia, which is ‘purpose.'”

The 64 year old music icon is father to seven other children from previous relationships. Stevie is twice divorced.
