Creepy or a little cute?
Recent research has shown that it is quite common to meet the love of your life on a plane and it seems Delta Airlines and Coca Cola are trying to cash in on the fact.
One customer tweeted out a photo of a new collaboration, where passengers are given a branded napkin while on all Delta flights.
But not everyone thinks it’s ‘cute’ or ‘old school’ – instead complaining it is predatory and intrusive.
The napkin reads, “because you’re on a plane full of interesting people and hey… you never know.”
Hey @Delta and @CocaCola These napkins are creepy AF. Pretty sure no one appreciated unsolicited phone numbers in the ‘good old days’ and they sure as heck don’t want the number of someone who has been gawking at them on a plane for hours today. Not a good look. pic.twitter.com/PJAiurFRMh

You turn the napkin over and there is space for you to write your name and phone number to give your prospective ‘plane crush’.
A final disclaimer says “be a little old school. write down your number and give it to your plane crush. you never know”.
We’re a little divided on this one.
The customer complained that people may not enjoy being given unsolicited phone numbers, especially from someone who has just been “gawking at them on a play for hours”.
Delta made the decision to pull the napkin for the time being, but because we’re in the 21st century they are now receiving backlash for stopping the “cute” promotion.
“We rotate Coke products regularly as part of our brand partnership, but missed the mark with this one,” Delta said in a statement to The Washington Post.
“We are sorry for that and began removing the napkins from our aircraft in January.”
Just can’t win…
@Delta @CocaCola I friggin LOVE these napkins. How anybody can find this genuinely creepy is beyond me. I once met a guy on a plane and we ended up in a 6 month relationship…and it all started with a smile and a…number…on an airplane napkin #Delta #CocaCola pic.twitter.com/3Wg7YMjelp

I ended up dating a girl I met when our plane was delayed in Sacramento on the way to San Diego. We sat across from each other and exchanged numbers after a short conversation and went out after we made it back to San Diego. This napkin would have been very convenient then.

It’s a napkin for heaven’s sake and frankly that’s quite cleverly done. I know so many people who found love on a plane. What can I say, I am an old school romantic. Kudos @Delta & @CocaCola for helping love take flight ! https://t.co/Jk2zznY7s1

I was more alarmed that “plane crush” sounds too much like “plane crash” to print on an airplane napkin. https://t.co/P4VH2uiEXf
