While trying to tease what could be an upcoming tour of Australia, the rock icon tweeted a message along with a picture that promoted a pair of 2002 Down Under shows that he cancelled.
On Australia Day Sir Paul posted a picture of himself with a a picture of the Australian flag and the message, “Salutations to our cousins down under on #AustraliaDay. Have a great one. Watch out for flying kangaroos!”
It seems fans have a problem with the reason McCartney cancelled the 2002 dates. He cited the terrorist bombing in Bali and never re-scheduled them, nor has he returned since. In fact, it’s been 23 years since he played Australia. There are also claims that the tickets were overpriced at $500 for top seats which has become the norm these days.
Some reactions on social media were unkind, to say the least — with fans complaining it’s now been 14 years since the tour that wasn’t.
So far, McCartney has yet to announce any plans for 2016. (Source: News Corp)
