Imagine being engaged, ready to start your life with the person that means the most to you in the world, and then imagine if while having fun with your girlfriends at your hen’s night, the unthinkable happened.
That’s what happened to Rachelle Chapman, who at just 24-years-old was left paralysed after her friend pushed her into the pool in a playful move. After defending her for years after the incident, and choosing to ensure she remained nameless, Rachelle has revealed that she’s now cut ties with that friend who gave her that fateful shove, according to People.
Chatting with People ahead of an upcoming TLC documentary about her life, Rachelle explains how the two were always there for each other. ‘She was distraught and depressed about what happened.
But as the years passed, she didn’t make the effort, it was just going through the motions and every time we spoke.’ She explained that the friend had come to visit after the birth of her daughter, Kaylee, who turned one just recently, but that was the last time they spoke.
She added: ‘I had to actually cut ties with her and end the friendship. I had to tell her that we couldn’t be friends because she just wasn’t there for me anymore.’
Rachelle has now focused on raising her daughter with the help of her mother, who lives with her and her wonderful husband Chris. Kaylee is now walking, and even uses her mum’s wheelchair to pull herself up.
She walks behind her holding onto the back of the chair. She is one VERY loved little girl.
‘And beyond love, Kaylee has a house over her head and food in her tummy. She’s a happy, happy baby who doesn’t realize that I’m different. This is normal for her,’ she said.
