A new Beatles tribute album featuring an interesting variety of rock and pop stars from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s is scheduled to be released next Tuesday, April 28. Keep Calm and Salute The Beatles boasts acoustic renditions of classic Fab Four tunes by such artists as Cream’s Jack Bruce, Heart’s Ann Wilson, Todd Rundgren and Asia’s John Wetton.
Bruce’s contribution to the project, a version of “Eleanor Rigby,” was the last recording made by the Cream singer/bassist, who died last October at the age of 71. Among the other artists featured on the record are The Rascals’ Felix Cavaliere, Judy Collins, Leo Sayer, Stephen Bishop, The Motels’ Martha Davis, Howard Jones, KC of KC and the Sunshine Band, Helen Reddy and ex-Blood, Sweat and Tears frontman David Clayton-Thomas.
Keep Calm and Salute The Beatles was put together by former Yes guitarist Billy Sherwood, who has overseen a slew of all-star tribute albums in recent years.
The album will be available on CD and as a digital download. The digital version, which will be sold via iTunes, features two bonus tracks. Here is the full track list of Keep Calm and Salute The Beatles:
