A mother has saved the life of her infant son – simply by taking a photo of him.
After seeing a Facebook post stating that a white glow appearing in a person’s eye in photographs can be a sign of retinal cancer, Julie Fitzgerald snapped a photo of her two-year-old son, Avery.
Sure enough, the “white glow” was there – so she took him to a doctor, who diagnosed Avery with retinoblastoma.
The toddler’s eye was removed, but his life was saved – if it had been caught any later, the cancer could have spread to Avery’s blood and brain.
“Our lives went to normal to cancer to a cancer survivor in three weeks,” Julie said.
“It turned out to be our worst nightmare but it saved our son’s life.”
