Following on from the news that the TV show FRIENDS is getting the musical treatment in Australia, we’re now hearing that one of our absolute FAVE 90’s films-turned-musicals is coming!

There is no doubt that Adam Sandler’s best film, in our expert opinion anyway, is The Wedding Singer.

The musical version, called ‘The Wedding Singer: The Musical Comedy’ is set to be an all-singing, all-dancing stage show based on the hit film.

Following incredible success on Broadway and across the UK, the stage show is heading to Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre from Friday June 19.

It’s set to take us straight back to the 80’s, just like the OG film! We’re talking big hair and all of your favourite 80’s wedding songs that no doubt you’ll be singing along to in the audience.

It will also follow the same storyline as the movie, telling the story of wedding-singer Robbie Hart (Sandler’s character) who is left at the altar and then vows to ruin all other weddings he’s part of. That is until he meets Julia (Drew Barrymore’s character) whom he falls madly in love with and now he has to somehow put an end to her own wedding.

The Wedding Singer: ‘The Musical Comedy’ is only expected to play in Melbourne but fingers crossed after much anticipated Australian success,  it will come to other places too!
