After months of speculation, legendary Aussie group Midnight Oil have confirmed they will reunite.
The band went on indefinite hiatus when lead singer Peter Garrett embarked on his federal political career in 2004, leaving the remaining members to continue working on various musical and artistic projects.
Since Garrett stood down from politics in 2013 speculation has been rife that the band would eventually get back together and they have confirmed fans hopes with a statement on their facebook page:
We wanted you to be the first to know that the five of us are planning to do some gigs in Australia and overseas during 2017. It will probably be at least the end of this year before we know exactly where or when….Hope to see you soon … from Bones, Jim, Martin, Peter and Rob.
Garrett has also tweeted the news this morning, as well as confirming rumors that he will release some solo material shortly.
