One the eve of April Fool’s Day, Russell Crowe recalled the days when Michael Jackson would regularly crank call him.
Crowe told The Guardian UK that shortly after winning his Oscar, for a three-year stretch, Jackson seemingly stalked and taunted him with juvenile pranks. Crowe said, (quote) “Michael found out the fake name I used to check into hotels. So it didn’t matter where I was, he’d ring me with pranks like you did when you were 10 years old.”
He knew it was Michael because he’d eventually start giggling like a child in that distinctly high voice. Russell says these shenanigans came completely out of the blue. (quote) “I never met Michael, and never shook his hand.”
The most frequent joke from Michael went like this, (quote) “Hello, is Mister Wall there? No? By chance is Mrs. Wall there? Are there any Walls there? Then what’s holding up your roof?”
