A time capsule buried by a 12-year-old boy in 1978 has been discovered.

Robert Wright buried a few coins, newspaper clippings, a McDonalds coupon and a note in the walls of his house in Fontana, California when he was 12 years old.

Decades later, the house’s new owner, Greg Sandoval, stumbled upon the items and reached out to a local news channel with the story.

Amazingly, the story travelled around the country and Wright immediately recognised the items as his own, and he jumped on a plane with his father to revisit their old home and memories.

The note reads, “Hello to whoever finds this. My name is Robert Wright. Today my dad is putting up paneling. Today is November 18th, 1978, 15 till 12:00 noon. I’m 12 years old and a student at Fontana JR. High, 7th grade. I am 5’3, blond hair, hazel eyes. Here is proof of the date. Robert Wright.”

Wright is now living in Texas and forgot that he had buried the time capsule.

The 49-year-old called being reunited with his belongings a “surreal moment”.
