Madonna has continued to keep her fans waiting on the Rebel Heart Australian tour, last night taking to the stage two and a half hours after the scheduled start time.
The superstar had been due to start at 9pm local time on Wednesday, but the thousands of fans at the entertainment centre were advised then that the Rebel Heart show would not start before 10.30pm.
Finally, the increasingly frustrated crowd ,which had resorted to Mexican waves and chanting, got what they were waiting for when Madonna made her first physical appearance at 11.22pm.
The 57-year-old later thanked the near capacity crowd for their patience, but joked they shouldn’t have been early.

“We started late – that hardly ever happens,” she said. “You were here too early. You should have taken your time doing your hair and makeup, then I wouldn’t have been late.
“No one wants to come early.”
Some patrons reportedly were given refunds when told the rebel heart show was going to start at least 90 minutes late.
Public transport to the entertainment centre in the outer suburb of Boondall stopped shortly after midnight – an hour before the concert eventually ended.
The brash and sassy Madonna had most of the crowd eating from the palm of her hand from the moment she appeared on stage in a metal cage right through to the encore of holiday.
Madonna plays a second Brisbane concert on Thursday night before ending the tour in Sydney on the weekend.
But she promised not to wait too long to make a return trip to Australia.
