British ska veterans Madness are set to headline their own festival in August.
The Baggy Trousers singers have created the House of Common one-day music event and will be topping the bill and recruiting 20 other bands and DJs to perform throughout the day on 29 August Announcing the news in a statement, the band writes: “We are honoured and privileged that London has found us a place where for one day every year we can have our very own festival. We hereby name that day House of Common. See you in Clapham, Madheads. For the love of the common people.”
The House of Common festival takes places at Clapham Common park in south London.
It’s not Madness’ first London festival – they headlined the Madstock weekender at Finsbury Park in August, 1992. That event featured performances by Morrissey, Ian Duty & the Blockheads, and Flowered Up.
Madstock marked the band’s first concerts since disbanding in 1986.
