We fell in love with Murtaza Ahmadi – the boy with a plastic bag Lionel Messi guernsey – earlier this year.
Now the two have met in person!
Five-year-old Murtaza lives on a farm in Jaghori, Afghanistan, with his family and comes from a poor upbringing.
Despite being obsessed with Messi, his family could not afford to buy him a jersey… so instead his father and brother fashioned one from an old plastic bag and it quickly became Murtaza’s favourite item of clothing.
“When he suddenly wakes up in the middle of the night, he starts crying that he wants to go to Messi,” father Arif Ahmadi told CNN.
“I told him that we were living in a poor village far from the city and it was impossible for me to get him the shirt.
“He kept crying for days asking for the shirt until his brother Hamayon helped him make one from the plastic bag to make him happy.
“He stopped crying after wearing that plastic bag shirt.”
The image of the youngster in the homemade Messi guernsey quickly went viral.
After making headlines worldwide, Murtaza was gifted a SIGNED Messi jersey all of his own.
Now the five-year-old has had his other wish granted – meeting the man himself!
The joy was plastered all over his face.
