With news breaking that Mary Wilson, one of the founding members of The Supremes, had passed away overnight, Laurel, Gary & Mark took a moment to look back on the iconic singer’s life and career.

It’s easy to forget just how successful The Supremes were, notching up a record 12 number ones to take the mantle as the most successful female vocal group in American music history.

But it wasn’t easy from the get-go, Mary told Laurel, Gary & Mark when they chatted back in 2018.

She recalls just how long it took for the group to notch up a hit, the unusual way her voice was described at the time and Mary’s experience touring as a black female artist in the ’60s.
