Game of thrones has some serious explaining to do! And no, we don’t mean just because the final season was a little, you know, disappointing…

But now, this time we’re talking about a random tweet that the official Game of Thrones account put out yesterday that sent fans into an absolute frenzy.

“Winter is coming.” the tweet read. That’s literally it.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!

In case you’re unaware about the meaning of ‘Winter Is Coming’, the catchphrase was a popular motto for House Stark, who always strive to be prepared for the coming of winter, which hits their lands the hardest in the series.

Really it could mean anything, but some fans seem to think that it could be a reference to the new prequel series or that the author of the books, George R.R. Martin has finally finished his last book.

It’s also possible that the note was just in reference to season 8 being released on DVD soon. Or it could even be just a literal reference to the weather!

Whatever the cryptic message is in reference to, it received a lot of attention with over 17 thousand comments and 400 thousand likes.
