Boo, the 12-year-old Pomeranian with over 16 million online followers, has died after suffering from a multitude of heart issues.

The Internet sensation’s death was confirmed on social media when his owner revealed the Pomeranian got sick after his fellow canine friend Buddy died over a year ago.

“With deepest sadness I wanted to share that Boo passed away in his sleep early this morning and has left us to join his best friend, Buddy,” his owner posted on Facebook. “Our family is heartbroken, but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in any pain or discomfort.”

Boo’s claim to fame came over ten years ago when the adorable Pomeranian and his late brother Buddy earned a legion of fans on Facebook and Instagram, establishing him as one of the internet’s most beloved animals.

In 2011, the social media influencer even scored his own book titled ‘Boo: The Life of the World’s Cutest Dog’.

Boo reportedly suffered from heart problems for over a year, resulting in the 12-year-old death.

“Boo showed signs of heart issues. We think his heart literally broke when Buddy left us. He hung on and gave us over a year. But it looks like it was his time, and I’m sure it was a most joyous moment for them when they saw each other in heaven,” his owners wrote.

“Boo, we love you with all our hearts and will miss you until the day we meet again. Have fun running around with Buddy and creating adorable mischief wherever you guys go.”

We’ll miss you, Boo!
