Elton John surprised fans with an impromptu concert in LA over the weekend. The show took place in front of the Tower Records building on Sunset Strip as a thank you to West Hollywood for hosting his annual Oscars viewing party.
Half way through “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” the surpises continued as Lady Gaga appeared on stage joining him to perform the classic .
In a statement prior to the event Elton John said in a statement: “The City of West Hollywood has welcomed the Elton John AIDS Foundation and our annual Academy Awards Viewing Party with open arms for many years, providing us with the perfect environment to host a really fun and special evening,” John said in a statement prior to the concert. “We are profoundly grateful for their generous support, so I wanted to do something special just for them by giving our West Hollywood fans and supporters a surprise concert. Thank you, West Hollywood!”
Lady Gaga and Elton John previously performed together at the 2010 Grammys (as well as the Muppets Thanksgiving special 2013). Gaga is performing at this year’s Academy Awards, she’s also nominated for Best Original Song for Til Til Happens To You with hit maker Diane Warren
