Reporter Mel McLaughlin made headlines earlier this year when she was asked out mid-interview by Chris Gayle, a cricketer from the Melbourne Renegades.
He told her that he was waiting to interview with her and wanted to take her for a drink.
He then, according to popular opinion, overstepped the line when he said, “Don’t blush baby.”
Now, Mel McLaughlin has found herself in a similar situation with cricketing legend, Mark Waugh.
During a post-match segment after the Big Bash clash between the Melbourne Renegades and the Adelaide Strikers on Monday McLaughlin slipped up and called Mark Waugh ‘Damien Fleming’, another cricketer’s name.
The panelists all dissolved into laughter as she tried to redeem herself, but the question must be asked – is what she did any different to what Chris Gayle did?
And if it is, how different?
Because Gayle copped a $10,000 fine for his actions.
Where is the line?
Or are we all just a little oversensitive at times?
Twitter seems to think so…
So it is ok for you to hit on and flirt? Asking them out for a drink? But it not ok for someone to ask you out? Wtf? @Mel_Mclaughlin #BBL05
