Following the shock passing of Jon English last week, details have been released for a memorial service to be held early next month to honor the music icon.
The service will be held at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney on Monday April 4 commencing at 5pm.
The official press release reads:
“It was at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney in 1972, that the Australian public first fell in love with Jon English.
Playing Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar, Jon launched himself into the stratosphere to become a household name, enjoyed, admired and loved by so many of us.
This memorial service is an occasion for the entertainment industry and Jon’s fans to come and celebrate Jon’s life with tributes and performances in memory of Jon.
Jon’s family would like to thanks Stephen Found for generously providing the Capitol Theatre, QPAC for offering Paul Dellit to co-ordinate production, and Simon Gallaher, Jon’s long time stage producer and friend, for arranging both.”
Members of the general public are invited to celebrate Jon’s legacy and are advised to arrive at 4.30pm
