David Beckham already accepts the dating rules he gives his daughter Harper will be very different to the ones he imposes on his sons.
The former soccer star and his fashion designer wife Victoria are parents to children Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 13, 10-year-old Cruz, and Harper, four. He’s previously admitted being much softer when it comes to disciplining his little girl and is in no doubt he’ll find it tough when she starts to become interested in boys.
“Oh yeah, that’ll definitely be different,” he laughed to ET Online.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether Beckham meant his inability to say no to Harper would make things hard, or if his protective nature meant he wouldn’t want her seeing boys.
Luckily the star has a long way to go before the toddler starts to think about romance, but his eldest son is already there. Brooklyn has been linked to actress Chloë Grace Moretz in the past and is now thought to be involved with French actress/model Sonia Ben Ammar.
“Obviously Brooklyn is definitely at that age,” Beckham admitted. “You know, he’s 16, he’s definitely at that age. We’re strong parents, and strict parents, but we’re like most parents. We love our kids and we want the best for them, so we’ll see.”
The star also touched on the loss of David Bowie, who passed away following a battle with cancer on Sunday. His death was confirmed on Monday, with his illness a secret until then. Fans all over the world have been laying flowers and joining in street sing-a-longs in his honour, with stars such as Madonna, Boy George, Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Mick Jagger paying tribute to the Thin White Duke.
“I met David quite a few times and obviously, he’s such an inspiration,” Beckham said. “He’s had such a great influence over so many people, millions of people, over the years. His music will continue to live on forever, because the music that he made, it was all so classic.”
