Before Star Wars Daisy Ridley was relatively unknown.
While she’d had some minor roles on the likes of Casualty, Silent Witness and Miss Selfridge, it wasn’t until she graced the big screen as Rey that the world took notice.
With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on DVD next month, footage of Ridley’s audition tape has surfaced and it makes you soon realise exactly why she scored the role.
Speaking of Ridley, J.J. Abrams says as soon as they saw her audition it was obvious.
“We were very lucky to find some great people, but the truth is it wasn’t till we found Daisy that we felt like she was capable of doing all these things the character required,” he said.
“When we brought her in I asked her to do this one scene, sort of this torture scene, and it was very sort of intense, and she just blew my mind.”
