Coldplay appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night to perform a couple of songs from their latest album, A Head Full of Dreams. Chris Martin was also interviewed by host Jimmy Fallon, during which the singer shared a behind-the-scenes story from the band’s Super Bowl halftime show performance.
After joking that they were “high” during the halftime show, Martin explained that pop stars Beyonce and Bruno Mars, who joined Coldplay for the Super Bowl performance, wanted the production to feature a “dance-off.”
“Our idea was let’s show like a picture of togetherness in this time of everyone being so divided. Let’s show we can all get along and everyone’s voices count,” Martin said of Coldplay’s vision for the performance. “And Bruno was like, ‘Yeah, let’s have a dance-off!'”
Coldplay played their song “Up&Up” and, as a Web exclusive, the title track from A Head Full of Dreams.
The episode will screen on ABC 2 in Australia tonight.
