Chaka Khan has cancelled her upcoming U.S. summer performances to concentrate on something more pressing – addiction to pain medication.
The soul legend checked into a rehabilitation centre in an undisclosed location, according to her rep, who said she “voluntarily entered the program to get healthy and stay that way.” Chaka’s spokesperson added that she is already enrolled in an after-care program to help her maintain sobriety upon her release.
Khan has been in rehab for similar issues before, as recently as 2013, when she was in the same facility as Lindsay Lohan.
The 10-time Grammy winner frequently collaborated with Prince, who – as we know died of an accidental painkiller overdose in April.
