A bride who met her groom for the first time as she walked towards him on their wedding day has claimed she had a panic attack when she laid eyes on him.
Clare Tamas was a contestant on the Nine Network’s controversial new show, Married At First Sight, and claimed she had no chemistry with cattle farmer Lachlan when they met and wed.
“You kind of know within the first 30 seconds,” the 37-year-old said. “Right now I just want to high-tail it out of there.”
Clare had a panic attack during the episode when things weren’t quite going her way, while Lachlan appeared more laid-back – but when she heard his wedding speech, dedicated to his late father, the mood seemed to lift.
Lachlan said he was “on top of the world” and later revealed that despite Clare’s initial hesitation, the two ended up under the sheets together.
Married At First Sight has caused controversy around Australia, with over 20,000 signatures on a petition calling for it to be axed.
Social media users have slammed the show as disrespectful, especially when same sex marriage is still not legal in Australia.
