Look out Fey and Poehler, Blanchett and Mailman are moving into the hosting hot seats.
Australia’s AACTA awards honour the best in film and television each year and this year they’ll be hosted by two of those industries’ brightest stars.
The ceremony for the peer-voted awards to be broadcast on Network Ten on January 29 will this year be presented by Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett and previous AACTA winner Deborah Mailman.
Using two female hosts could be seen as a nod to the success of Golden Globes co-hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
Blanchett said in a statement she was delighted to be co-hosting with Mailman, who she described as “a shining light of Australian television”.
Mailman has been critically acclaimed for her work in several Australian television shows including The Secret Life of Us and Redfern Now.
The star of The Sapphires said she was thrilled to be hosting the AACTAs with Blanchett.
“These awards take pride in the effort and hard work of all who are part of our Australian film and television industry,” she said.
