Not many are brave enough to take on Arnold Schwarzenegger, but then again not many challengers are quite as intimidating as this one.

While on safari in South Africa, Arnie had a close call with one bull elephant who wanted to take on the action hero and his troop.

The movie star and former California governor captured the encounter on video posting it to Instagram on Tuesday. The footage begins with the elephant coming up to the windshield of the Jeep that Schwarzenegger was riding in. Initially, the elephant walks away, but then returns bolting towards the vehicle as it drives away! EEEEEK!!!

The incident is enough to scare the bejesus out of anyone, but Arnie’s reaction couldn’t be more perfect.

Taking the opportunity to share an important message about the plight of African wildlife, Schwarzenegger wrote “I couldn’t have written this safari encounter better if it was a movie. I’m absolutely in awe of these beautiful, strong animals, even though some of us had to change our pants after this. We need to stop killing them — take a photo, not a shot. Would you rather be able to experience these creatures or a hunk of ivory? I thought so.”

Arnie has been a long time advocate of wildlife conservation. In November last year, he featured in this video message to ivory poachers

Schwarzenegger publicist Daniel Ketchell confirmed Tuesday that Instagram video is “real and unstaged.”
