Amber Heard stressed that money would not be the sticking point in her divorce to Johnny Depp and it looks like she’s stayed true to her word.
The model has donated the full US$7 million (AUS$9.11mill) that she received to women’s and children’s charities – the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
The money that has been donated to ACLU will specifically be directed at combatting violence against women – an appropriate cause given the drama surrounding Depp and Heard’s relationship.
The divorce was settled on Tuesday and Heard released a statement on Thursday detailing her plans for her share.
“As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves,” Heard wrote.
Depp has frequently denied that he abused heard throughout the course of their relationship.
The couple released a joint statement at the announcement of their divorce being official, admitting the realities of their relationship – both the highs and lows.
“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love,” the actors’ statement said.
“Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.”
