Walt Disney Pictures have announced a follow up to the 1964 classic and Emily Blunt has been cast in the lead as the magical nanny opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda, who created and stars in Broadway hit musical Hamilton.
Rob Marshall, who made Into The Woods, will be directing as well as producing.
When announced he said ”he iconic original film means so much to me personally, and I look forward to creating an original movie musical that can bring Mary Poppins, and her message that childlike wonder can be found in even the most challenging of times, to a whole new generation.”
Mary Poppins Returns will be in cinemas on December 25, 2018.
