In the Best Picture category, Star Wars: The Force Awakens got the cold shoulder, even though it’s the highest-grossing domestic movie of all time. Avatar and Titanic, which are the second and third top-grossing films, were both nominated in that category, with Titanic winning the award. Straight Outta Compton, which was a critical darling and box-office hit, was also thought to be a shoo-in for a nod, but it didn’t happen.

In the acting categories, Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation), Will Smith (Concussion), Johnny Depp (Black Mass) and Kristen Stewart (Clouds of Sils Maria) were shut out. In the directing category, Steven Spielberg (Bridge of Spies), Quentin Tarantino (The Hateful Eight) and Ridley Scott (The Martian) were ignored.

In the Best Original Song original, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s Furious 7 tune “See You Again” didn’t make the cut.

The 88th Academy Awards are February 28th.
