How Dr Gomes & Heart Of Australia Change Lives In Rural QLD
Living in Brisbane we can at times take for granted our access to specialist medical care.
But people in regional areas certainly don't have that luxury.
Enter 'Heart of Australia'.
A purpose built van that travels across the state - with the highly qualified Doctor Gomes - offering medical services to those that need it, without them even having to leave their home town.
It has been specially fit with a range of incredible medical equipment that can help diagnose and treat medical conditions relating to the heart.
We spoke to Dr Gomes about the wonderful work that his team delivers to those who need it.
The team deliver fortnightly specialist medical investigation and treatment clinics to regional, rural and remote area communities across Queensland, including Dalby, Goondiwindi, Stanthorpe, St George, Charleville, Roma, Emerald, Barcaldine, Longreach, Hughenden, Charters Towers and Moranbah.
Our 'road train' has travelled more than 72,000km in its first year on the road, covering an area of more than 450,000 square kilometres.
But it certainly has plenty of kilometres still to cover!

The South East QLD Expo - held between the 17th and 19th of March 2017 - is organized by Rotary Club Jimboomba.
The 3 day event showcases a range of exhibits and stands; from agricultural, camping, caravanning, local councils, food trucks, camp cooking demos, fishing, retail, local businesses, children's entertainment, live bands etc.
It is held at Paul Ct, Jimboomba.
