While we all know the rain is coming, it looks like there could be far more than any of us expected.

The Bureau of Meteorology has once again increased their predictions of rain, with Brisbane being warned we could see anywhere from 35-60mm.

That’s up from Wednesday’s initial estimation of 10-25mm and Thursday’s prediction of 20-45mm.

We’re also being warned there is the chance of a thunderstorm for the south-east.

On top of being wet and stormy, it will also be cold with a maximum of 20C being forecast for across the day.

According to Weatherzone, the heaviest falls will hit Brisbane this evening – just in time for the commute home.

Already the wet weather is affecting the roads, with the Pacific Motorway congested for the northbound run between Tanah Merah and Rochedale.

The Western Freeway is also slow for the inbound run at Indooroopilly, along with the Centenary Highway at Carole Park.

Those heading into the city from the northern suburbs are also experiencing congestion on the Bruce Highway at Northlakes and Gympie Road at Carseldine.
