Warning Of Up To 90 Minute Delays As New Train Line Opens
Commuters on a busy Brisbane train line will endure seven days of pain ahead of the opening of a new rail link.
The Redcliffe Peninsula line is expected to finally open on October 4 after final signalling testing is completed.
The testing will force a track closure between Zilmere and Caboolture stations from 9pm Friday to the last service the following Thursday, with commuters being warned to allow an extra 90 minutes travel time on weekdays.
The Redcliffe Peninsula line, previously dubbed the Moreton Bay Rail Link, features new stations at Kallangur, Murrumba Downs, Mango Hill, Mango Hill East, Rothwell and Kippa-Ring.
The near-$1 billion project was due to open in mid-2016 and has previously been delayed by signalling faults that could have caused train crashes.
