Tomic: Would you care if you were 23 and worth over $10mill?
Bernard Tomic's attitude is again being questioned after the Aussie tennis star faced up to match point in his opening round loss at the Madrid Open holding the racquet by its strings.
When questioned by the Gold Coast Bulletin, Tomic's reply was even more telling.
“I don’t care about that match point – would you care if you were 23 and worth over $10 million?" Tomic reportedly said to journalist Ryan Keen.
Down 6-2 5-4 and 0-40 to Italian Fabio Fognini, Tomic threw in the towel as he attempted return serve with his racquet handle.
He failed to even take a swipe at the ball as it sizzled past for an ace as he fell to a third straight first-round defeat.
Since losing the final of the ATP event in Mexico to Austrian Dominic Thiem in February, Tomic has had just one win on the ATP Tour - a 6-4 7-5 second round victory over American world No.76 Ranjeev Ram at Indian Wells.
