Thrifty Kate Recycles 12-YEAR-OLD Pair Of Boots In Canada

The Queen of Thrift just stole her own crown!

Kate Middleton is no stranger to recycling her outfits, but the boots she pulled out for yesterday's Canadian rainforest trip have definitely been around the block a few times; the young Royal first purchased her trusty Penelope Chilvers boots in 2004!

PEOPLE report that the $882 boots are handmade from Spanish leather, are fully lined and boast a non-slip Goodyear Welted Commando rubber sole - perfect for navigating the remote island of Bella Bella in Monday's rainy Canadian weather.

And if they look familiar, it's because Kate last whipped them out for a trek to the Tiger's Nest monastery during April's visit to India, when she was snapped cuddling up to Prince William.

At the time, the footwear's designer said: "It's great to see the Duchess wearing the first boots we made for her in 2004 - that's 10 years on.

"The boots only get better with age. She looks fabulous in them."

Kate was first snapped in the tassled "conker" boots at the Game Fair at Blenheim Palace in August 2004, where she paired them with a country-appropriate tweed ensemble.

22 year old Kate at the Game Fair held by Blenheim Palace on the 24th of July 2004. She was working for the clothing company Really Wild that day, a brand she still buys from, modeling their pieces. (I'll show the modeling photos in my next post). She and William had just finished their third year at St Andrews University and were about to begin their final year, doing honors, in a couple of months time. They had spent their third year in Balgove House which was a private estate a little outside of the town centre. It belonged to William's distant cousin and wealthy land owner Henry Cheape who had always been a close friend of the royals. Kate had recently come into the limelight as media caught wind of their relationship during their trip earlier that year at Klosters ski field.

This time around the Duchess kept it a little more understated, with a Holland and Holland jacket, Zara jeans and royal blue sweater; she, of course, made sure to rep a local designer as well, donning a beautiful pair of earrings by Canadian Pippa Small.

We can't imagine it'll be long before the boots - or the earrings - are sold out!
