Queensland School In Lockdown After Threats Made
Helensvale State School is reportedly on lockdown after threats were called into the administration this morning.
The Principal of the Gold Coast school advised parents of the situation, with the facility going into lockdown at approximately 9:30am.
Police are at the scene.
“Helensvale State School is currently in a precautionary lockdown. Police are attending. All staff and students are safe,” Principal Heidi Booth communicated to parents.
“Parents are asked not to attend the school as nobody other than the police will be able to enter school grounds.”
The nature of the threats have not been made public, but police are currently attempting to determine the validity of what was phoned in.
Parents have begun to ignore the advice of the principal and arrive at the school campus.
The lockdown has seen the students miss out on their morning tea break so far.
More to come.
